Canada PR process For anybody looking to immigrate to Canada as a skilled worker or entrepreneur, their CRS score is of utmost importance. Canada follows a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) that ranks immigration candidates basis a number of factors. In order to get Canada Permanent Resident (PR) Visa, one has to follow certain steps. Let us help you understood the process. 1. The first thing of course is checking your eligibility for Canada immigration. There are a number of programs that you can choose from, for your Canada PR application. The most popular ones being:
With respect to Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), Canada's 10 provinces and 3 territories have their separate PNPs or similar programs. Every program has its immigration streams and eligibility criteria. Also noteworthy is the fact that all these programs have at least one Express Entry program aligned stream. PNPs are the 2nd choice for those who are unable to secure Canada PR through the Express Entry program. Get more information about Canada PNPs. 2. Once, you know that you are eligible for one of the immigration programs. The next thing is taking a language test. English and French are the official languages of Canada and all applicants are required to be proficient in one of these for immigration to the country. For English you will need to take IELTS or CELPIP test. While TEF and TCF are the recommended tests for the French language. 3. Now, you should create your Express Entry profile, with which you will gain access to Express Entry pool (basis your eligibility). It's free to create. However, it's important to note that creating an Express Entry profile, in no way means that you will get Canada PR Visa. 4. For education that you have completed outside Canada, you will need to get an Education Credential Assessment (ECA). This is to ensure that your education is equivalent to Canadian educational standards. 5. Once, you are in the Express Entry pool, you should keep an eye on the Express Entry draws (usually held twice every month). At the same time, keep trying to improve your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. If your CRS score meets the minimum required CRS score, you will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canada PR Visa. Tip: Securing a nomination from a Canadian province adds 600 points to your CRS score. This virtually guarantees receiving an ITA. 6. The next step after receiving your ITA, is submitting your PR Visa application documents. You must ensure that you provide all the documents required while also ensuring that the information provided is clear and complete which can otherwise cause delay in the processing of your Canada PR Visa application. These documents include your medical tests report, criminal background check etc. 7. Once, an immigration officer checks and verifies the documents submitted by you, a decision will be taken whether to grant you Canada PR Visa or ask for more information. It's important to be ready with any additional information that you anticipate to be asked to provide. 8. Once the immigration office is satisfied with the documents and information provided, they will send you a notification and you can then apply for your PR card. The whole process takes about 6-8 months usually.
